Kloster Marienthal
The small village of Marienthal owes its existence to the monastery founded here in 1137 by the Augustinian nuns of Klosterrath. The monastery, which was secularised in 1802, became the seat of the State Wine Estate in 1925. From 2004 onwards, a modern winery with a wine tavern was built in the old ruins, combining tradition and the latest technology. The combination of classic methods and continuous development determines the work in the cellar and in the vineyards and is the basis for wines of high quality. The vines grow in the best locations around Marienthal, for example in Ahrweiler Rosenthal, on the Marienthaler Stiftsberg or in the Marienthaler Klostergarten.
