Schloss Lieser
Weingut Schloss Lieser is a German winery in the municipality of Lieser on the Moselle. The estate cultivates 13 hectares of vineyards, which are planted exclusively with Riesling. The winery comprises plots in several Grosses Gewächs and Erste Lage sites, including Lieser Niederberg Helden and Brauneberger Juffer Sonnenuhr. The vineyards are located on south or south-west facing slopes with typical slate soils on the banks of the Moselle. This unique combination of location and soil ensures a mild mesoclimate and a correspondingly long growing season, in which the slate soils absorb the sun's heat and the river acts as a reflector of the sun's rays to produce fine and fruity Riesling wines. The wines from Schloss Lieser cover the spectrum from sweet to dry, with Kabinett, Spätlese, Auslese and Auslese Goldkapsel as well as the dry Grosses Gewächs and Erste Lage classified Riesling wines. The grapes are harvested by hand and fermented slowly in the presence of natural yeasts at cool temperatures. As soon as the desired residual sugar content is reached, the wines are decanted and separated from the yeast.
