Weingut Michael Schroth
The Schroth Winery is located in Grünstadt-Asselheim in the Northern Palatinate. Over the past 20 years, Michael Schroth has built up his business virtually from scratch. The Palatinate winemaker started out with 3 hectares of vineyards as a sideline and has since expanded this to a total of 30 hectares. The vineyards of the Schroth Winery are situated in the Asselheim sites of St. Stephan, Höllenpfad and Goldberg. The vines grow on limestone-rich loamy soils.
The Schroth Winery label features the hand of the Palatinate winemaker, reflecting his commitment to producing wines that are ‘handmade’. As such, wines from the local wine category upwards are harvested by hand. Yields are significantly reduced, particularly in the premium segment, to as little as 20 hectolitres per hectare. The top wines spend a long time on the lees and usually only reveal their full potential after a few years.
